RESEARCHING FOR
A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Avinea Group's research and development program

WE SEEK TO DEEPEN AND UNDERSTAND THE INTERACTION
AMONG THE ORGANISMS OF THE VINEYARD ECOSYSTEM

The MatrizViva project was developed in order to deepen and understand the interaction that exists between organisms, water, soil and the environment which coexist in the various agroecosystems that we have within our vineyards.

For this project, we begin working in our Alto Agrelo site not only because it is the one with the largest planted area, but also because it has a diversity of soil textures, and different management takes place there according to the oenological need.
In order to achieve richer results and deepen the analysis within each line of research, we join forces with scientific institutions and specialized companies with extensive knowledge in these topics.

RESEARCH LINES

The MatrizViva project is developed within our vineyards located in Mendoza and Chubut. To deepen and understand the interaction that exists between organisms, water, soil and vines, we currently have different lines of research that we carry out in conjunction with institutions and companies that have great expertise to contribute to us in all these topics.

ALLIANCES

To develop each of our lines of research that take place within Matriz Viva, we work closely with various organizations and institutions, experts in each topic, with which we generate synergy to achieve the results we set ourselves. Get to know our main allies in this great project.

CONICET: The main organization dedicated to the promotion of Science and Technology in Argentina. Its activity is developed in four major areas of knowledge:

  • Agricultural, Engineering and Materials Sciences
  • Biological and Health Sciences
  • Exact and Natural Sciences
  • Social Sciences and Humanities

They collaborate with MatrizViva in the following projects:

  • Microorganisms and how they affect the Terroir
  • CO2 Balance in Farms
  • Biological Corridor and identification of mammals (IADIZA-IFTIE)
  • Study of floral biodiversity in vineyards (IADIZA)

INTA: The National Institute of Agricultural Technology is a cutting-edge research organization in global agro-technological development, which is close to the producer and their needs, assisting the social sectors that deserve attention.

In this way, it projects its actions to achieve competitiveness, social and economic sustainability with a national sense, prioritizing the environmental sustainability of the territories. Its efforts are oriented towards innovation as a driver of development and it integrates capacities to promote inter-institutional cooperation, generate knowledge and technologies and put them at the service of the sector through its extension, information and communication systems. The result of INTA's work allows the country to achieve greater potential and opportunities to access regional and international markets with high value-added products and services.

They collaborate with MatrizViva in the following projects:

  • Getting to know ants
  • Arthropod diversity in different soil management methods
  • Arthropod diversity in floral bands
  • Arthropod diversity in soil management (with pheromones)
  • Testing of more sustainable products for the control of Lobesia botrana.
  • Prospecting and evaluating Lobesia botrana parasitoids in the inter-row area.

UNCUYO: The National University of Cuyo is the largest higher education center in the Province of Mendoza, Argentina.

It has 12 academic units located in the city of Mendoza and in San Rafael, as well as branches in some departments and the Balseiro Institute that operates in the city of San Carlos de Bariloche (province of Río Negro). It also has the Technological University Institute (ITU), which offers technical education to seven cities in the province of Mendoza; and the University Institute of Public Security (IUSP), which trains and educates the human resources of the Mendoza Police and the Provincial Penitentiary Service. In addition, UNCUYO provides educational services at the Secondary Level through six schools, and also has a department for primary and pre-primary education.

They collaborate with MatrizViva in the following projects:

  • Vegetation cover: floral bands between rows of organic vineyards.

IRD: The French Institute for Development Research is a French scientific research institute that carries out programs of social, economic, cultural and environmental interest.

The IRD is made up of five sections dealing with land and the environment, natural resources, society and health, expertise and advice, support and training of scientific communities in southern countries. The IRD is present in more than forty countries around the world. In terms of development, the IRD focuses on natural disasters and climate, ecosystems, access to drinking water, food, health and globalization.

They collaborate with MatrizViva in the following projects:

  • Microorganisms and how they affect the Terroir
